EMTFA  is a friendly association for anyone who enjoys fishing for trout, talking about trout fishing,  tying flies, talking about tying flies, eating good food and drinking!

EMTFA regularly hold events at the following waters:

Grafham Water.

Grafham Water is run by Anglia Water, The fishing lodge is situated in the village of West Perry approximately 3 miles from the Buckden roundabout on the A1.
The Reservoir was opened as a trout fishery 1966 and quickly gained the reputation of being the countries number one trout fishery.

East Midlands Trout Fishers Association has held club events on the water since the club was formed in 1967. As well as holding club competitions we hold a number of  fishing days for members and guests.

Grafham is a premier competition water, which hosts a number of national competitions each year. Over recent seasons the fishing at Graham has been superb, in the early part of the year nymphs worked extremely well from both the bank and boats.

Pulling mini lures including the "blob" on sinking lines has won many matches and is a deadly method. Later in the year dry flies work very well from both the bank and boat. During the last couple of months of the season fish at Grafham grow at a phenomenal rate and often feed ravenously on fry, which provide very exciting fishing and accounts for some very large fish.

East Midlands Trout Fishers Association members fish Grafham very regularly; through an informal network of contacts members can usually quickly find out what happened where yesterday.

Pitsford Reservoir

Pitsford  is run by Anglian Water. The fishing lodge is just outside the village of Holcot  in Northamptonshire between the A43 and the A508.

Pitsford is an excellent trout fishery that provides good sport for both bank and boat anglers. Fishing the Nymph is an excellent method, particularly from the bank. Good fishing can also be had fishing traditional wets, dry flies and lures. Varnished buzzers catch tremendous numbers of fish at Pitsford; fished under a bung or drifted round on the wind on a floating line they are particularly deadly.

Pitsford has a cycle track around its perimeter making access easy, a good depth of water is easily reached from many parts of the bank, which makes good bank fishing available in almost any wind.

East Midlands Trout Fishers Association hold regular fishing days at Pitsford that are always popular, our members regularly fish at Pitsford and can provide up to date information about hot spots and methods.

Rutland Water

Anglian Water runs Rutland Water. The fishing lodge is on the South shore close to Normanton church. Rutland is the biggest of Anglian waters big three fisheries. The fishing is excellent, providing sport for those who like to fish large flies deep to those who like to fish dries and everyone in between. East Midlands Trout Fishers hold at least one match at Rutland each season, usually two.
Access is available at numerous parts of the bank at Rutland, which is renowned for the quality of it's bank fishing.

Eyebrook Trout Fishery
Eyebrook Reservoir is a mature 400 acre fishery on the Northamptonshire-Rutland border.
Access is from the great Easton road off A6003 at Caldecott. East Midlands try to hold at least one event at Eyebrook each year, it is without doubt one of the prettiest reservoirs in the country and provides excellent sport for top of the water and nymph anglers. The fish at Eyebrook are renowned for looking up!

Draycote Water

East Midlands Trout Fishers visit Draycote each year and enjoy good sport. The fish at Draycote seem to look up and are keen to feed on or just below the surface. From the banks Nymphs and later in the season Fry patterns are deadly. From the boats pulling mini lures and damsels has caught as well in addition to Nymphs and fry patterns. Draycote holds a significant number of large fish. Dick Kenniwell caught a 10lb 6 oz Rainbow in 2003 when representing EMTFA in the Hinkley Shield bank
competition.
