Formed in 1903, the Salmon & Trout Association (S&TA) is the only UK-wide membership organisation representing the views of game anglers.  It is also recognised as the governing body for game angling by Sport England.

 

           

The Atlantic Salmon Trust is a UK based organisation with Atlantic wide interests which champions the wild salmon and sea trout - it does not represent any other interests or body, only the fish themselves. Although called the 'Atlantic Salmon Trust', it is equally concerned with sea trout.

 

           

The Angling Conservation Association was established in 1948 with the aim of protecting the lakes and rivers of the United Kingdom from pollution. Funds donated from a wide range of interested anglers, clubs and federations are used so that no one person has to foot the costs of bringing polluters to court.

           

The ‘Game Angling Instructors Association' formerly 'Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors'(A.P.G.A.I) was created in 1967 to establish and maintain standards of excellence in the field of 'Game Angling Instruction', initially this was in Salmon and Trout angling.

 

           

Defra (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) * works for the essentials of life - food, air, land, water, people, animals and plants. Their remit is the pursuit of sustainable development - weaving together economic, social and environmental concerns.
