East Midlands Trout Fishers Association is a member of the Federation of Midland Fly Fishers (Anglia). The FMFFA comprises of delegates from nine Midland Fly Fishing Associations. Through our membership of the Federation of Midland Fly Fishers (Anglia) EMTFA has representation on the Confederation of English Fly Fishers whose objectives are: - To foster all aspects of competitive fly-fishing and to select teams to represent England in international fly-fishing competitions.
- To encourage, support and uphold the sport of fly-fishing.
- To cooperate with all national and international organisations, including the Salmon and Trout Association, which are seen to be working for the betterment and safeguarding of fly-fishing events.
- To seek to ensure that the highest standards of sportsmanship and respect for fish and their environment are fostered amongst all fly-fishers.
As a member of EMTFA you are eligible to fish eliminators from which the top anglers fish in a national Final from which the England Loch Style team is selected.
 Over the years many EMTFA members have gained many places in England Teams including twice individual World Champion Brian Leadbetter, John Lindsay and Brian Thomas who both won Gold Medals for their Country in world Fly Fishing Championships and Mrs. Stevie Rayner who represented England for the ninth consecutive time in 2005 when she fished at Loch Coribb in Ireland as a member of the England Ladies Fly Fishing Association. As an EMTFA member you can take part in exciting CEFF competitions ranging from locally run FMFF(A) Lochstyle eliminators and small water bank matches to the World Championship competitions (subject to your ability and selection).  Under No circumstances should you be put off entering competitions, they will give you the opportunity to fish with some of the very top men and women Fly Fishers in the Country who will be eager to develop their own ability.
